Battleberg Ice, Austin, TX

If you're in Austin and around Ladybird Lake this weekend you might get a glimpse of Boozefox's new floating sculpture. My friends did an amazing job creating the ship and will be taking it for a spin up and down the lake all weekend.

I know you're not going to ACL

If you didn't already pay a million dollars for ACL then you should come September 17th to Ditch The Fest Fest - it's going to be awesome and it's only $2. I'll be there supporting my BF Matthew's band Lost River/Old River and our friends Boy Friend at Cheer Up Charlie's. Come find me, I'll be wearing some of the awesome new pieces from the Hey Murphy Fall collection.

My friends Elliot Hostetter and Max Juren worked on this film for Spike Jonze. It was shot at the old airport near my house. Good Job guys!

Americanarama: Commemorating the Golden Spike

Monofonus had this year's 4th of July party which included an inflatable slip n' slide, BBQ potluck, and live music (Yellow Fever, Stormshelter, David Israel, Tiny James, and Ralph White). It's only taken me a month to get these photographs up on the blog. My apologies for the lateness.

Open Room Austin

My friends Haleh and Veronica discovered this awesome public art dining space and had a potluck there this past weekend. It's not quite finished yet, but it's still usable. Just make sure that you bring your own candles or camping lights because the big lamps haven't been turned on yet. The only lame thing is that apparently Austin commissioned out-of-area artists to design the piece. Other than that it's quite nice.

Just becuase 10.2 ~ After Icebergs with a Painter by Ben Ruggiero

My friend, Ben Ruggiero has a new solo show opening this weekend at Testsite in Austin, TX. If you're in town you should come. The opening will be Sunday afternoon on June 6th. There will be a performance by Barry Stone and Matthew Kemp. I can hear them practicing in the other room right now.

"After Icebergs with a Painter references the romantic impulse realized by the painter Frederic Edwin Church in his Arctic paintings. Through a series of photographs, artist Ben Ruggiero examines the intentionality and the pursuit of the exotic in Hudson River School paintings and considers how those impulses inform representation and materiality in contemporary photographic practice and aesthetics." ~Testsite
